At-a-Glance
This project is a task assigned to me as part of the bootcamp program at MySkill. The goal is to revamp MySkill based on user feedback in under a month. Through user research, wireframing, and prototyping, I delivered set of hi-fi design and a UI prototype, worked collaboratively with 2 other participants, and earned a top 3 ranking for the best UI design among 72 other teams.
Design Process
In this case, I use Design Thinking because itโs both user-centric and solutions-based. Design Thinking is a methodology that involves a deep understanding of the users and their needs, which is essential for developing successful solutions. By taking a human-centered approach, itโs possible to gain a better understanding of the userโs pain points and create solutions that truly meet their needs.

User Research (Empathize) ๐
We conducted user research and received feedback from 8 users that we incorporated into user personas. Most online course users often forget the last course they attended. For example, our persona Lolita often forgets her study progress. Furthermore, she thought it would be great if a challenge were added to the course to test her understanding of the topic she learned.

Ideation Sketch๐ก
Based on the identified pain points, we gathered numerous ideas to address the issue. However, given the tight deadline of only one month to complete the project, it is not feasible to pursue all of them. Thus, we conducted a vote on which ideas we will further develop into a low-fidelity design.
โ

The process below begins with my initial idea wireframes, then moves to mockups, and finally to the high-fidelity prototype. In this simple version, you can see how I approach solves the user needs. We then created a user flow to ensure a seamless experience for the end-user.

Wireframes
I then brought my idea to an interactive digital low-fidelity prototype and brought it to five potential users to collect feedback.

Design Iteration - Quiz Page Navigation

In the previous design, users were only given the option to navigate to the previous question. This could be inconvenient if there were many questions. In the new design, users are able to jump from page to page by clicking on the page numbers.

Project Successes ๐
This design was assigned and presented at the end of the bootcamp program. Despite a lack of user feedback other than from our mentor, we managed to rank in the top 3 for best UI design among 72 other teams.
What I Learned ๐ฑ
An important lesson from this project was the value of early user feedback. Gathering feedback shortly after starting the project gave us strong, first-hand evidence that informed our design decisions. This feedback helped us understand what users wanted from the app, and was essential in shaping the project. Prioritizing early feedback is crucial for creating designs that truly meet user needs.
